Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Clean Reader, this website, and optional paid unlocks. By installing or using the extension, you agree to them.

1. The service

Clean Reader provides a browser extension and related pages that help you extract article content, manage per-site rules, and read in a calmer layout. Features may change over time. “Server cloud sync” and similar complementary online features may be adjusted or discontinued.

2. Eligibility

You must be able to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction and comply with Chrome Web Store / Firefox Add-ons policies and applicable law when using the extension.

3. License to use

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Clean Reader as distributed through official store listings or builds we provide. You may not reverse engineer, resell, or redistribute the extension except as allowed by law or an explicit written license.

4. Free and paid features

Core reading, local rules, backup import/export, Google Drive sync, and offline save are available on the Free tier as described on our pricing section. Plus is a one-time purchase that unlocks additional capabilities (such as hiding the extension credit). Pro features marked “coming soon” are not guaranteed until publicly released.

Purchases are processed by third-party payment providers. Activation requires a valid license key subject to device/instance limits described in the product UI.

Refunds are described in our Refund Policy.

5. Your content & responsibilities

  • You are responsible for pages you visit and content you extract, export, or archive.
  • Respect website terms, copyright, and robots / access rules of sites you read. Clean Reader is a reading aid, not a permission to scrape or republish others’ work.
  • Do not abuse license keys, our APIs, or attempt to circumvent activation limits.

6. Third-party services

Optional integrations (for example Google Drive, Obsidian, Creem payments) are governed by those providers’ terms. We are not responsible for outages or policy changes of third parties.

7. Privacy

How we handle data is described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Disclaimers

The extension and website are provided “as is” without warranties of uninterrupted availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or that extraction will succeed on every site. Site layouts change; rules you create may need updates.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Clean Reader and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising from use of the product. Our aggregate liability for paid features is limited to the amount you paid for the relevant license in the twelve months before the claim.

10. Changes & termination

We may update these terms or the product. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance. We may suspend access to online APIs for abuse, legal risk, or operational reasons. You may stop using Clean Reader at any time by uninstalling it.
